Inspired by Babies

I love making baby cards!  In fact, I love anything 'baby', LOL!

This image, which is from 'A Day For Daisies', is colored with Creative Inspirations Paint, 'Sunshine, Green Olive, and Sky Blue', which I mixed with 'Blue Ice'.  I also added some of CI Paints Jeweled Inspirations and Metallic Inspirations which will be available July 1st, so be sure to look for those.  They're 'hot fix' which makes them so easy to add with your rhinestone setter although you don't have to.  I've been using Glossy Accents, which works just fine.

I hope you are enjoying making your baby cards and thank you for joining our challenges!  Have a great day!

decorate it...

Hello everyone!

I have recently been told that I don't just organize... I decorate my organization... LOL!  Guess I can't really deny it...

One of the ways I like to organize is by keeping written notes... This requires notebooks.... and this, of course, requires decorating. =)

I covered the book with a beautiful patterned paper by Prima.... However, it need something more.  In steps Creative Inspirations Paint!  I painted Fairy Dust over the printed flower.

So sparkly! I love it!   A simple rhinestone swirl adds a little bit of dimension without being too bulky, and I have a beautiful notebook ready for use!

Bling and Shimmer

I attempted another experiment with the paints this week. I tried the glossy gesso technique from Technique Junkies with a bit of a twist. Instead of using glimmer mist or smooch spray, I mixed some CI spring green paint and a little water in a mister. I sprayed the mixture over my image and cardstock and wow, what a glimmer. It worked perfectly. The green is not a deep color, but I think you can see the spray against the glossy black cardstock. I also added a flower from Webster's Pages. Of course, the white petals just had to have some CI paint on the petals. The stamp I used is from Heartfelt Creations. To add even more bling, I added some Jeweled Inspirations to the flourish. Jeweled Inspirations are heatset rhinestones which make beautiful embellishing to a card. These rhinestones are now carried by Creative Inspirations and they are beautiful. I had never used heatset rhinestones before. I don't have the special heatset tool. I used my Hot Marks tool and it worked fabulously. You can also use glue or glue dots if you don't have a heat tool.

It's a Girl

Good morning!  Hope you're having a great Monday so far.  It's Kendra with a simple, yet cute baby card.  This week's challenge is "Inspired By: BABIES"!

I just love babies!   I shared a card yesterday for a boy, so I thought I would make a girl card for my post today.

I used CI Paint "TuTu Pink" to add shimmer to the baby carriage.  I then used glossy accents to add texture and "pop" the shimmer a little more.  I really like how this looks.

I really think the glossy accents brings out the shimmer even more!

Have a great week and we hope you'll share a baby inspired card with us!

photo magic...

Hello everyone! I hope you are all having a wonderful summer weekend!

Today I have a really quick tutorial to help add a little extra excitement to your summer scrapbook pages..

Here is a photo that I took at my sister's wedding... Since I wanted to do a scrapbook page for my niece, I decided to photoshop the photo into black and white while leaving her and her "princess dress" in color...

But, what is a princess dress without sparkle?

So to add a little extra pop to this photo, I simply painted over her dress with Fairy Dust Creative Inspirations paint.  Yup, right onto the photo!  It is a quick and easy way to highlight any part of a photo, or cover the whole photo for an over all shimmer!

The fun thing about the Fairy Dust, is that since it is clear, it doesn't change the colors, and you can still see all the great detail of the dress, but when it catches the light, it sparkles!

Have fun adding that little extra sparkle to your photos!

hot fix...

Hello everyone!

After my announcement of the new Metallic Inspirations and Jeweled Inspirations, I had several people ask what "hot fix" means...

Both the Metallic and Jeweled Inspirations are hot fix. This means that they have a heat activated glue on the back side. This makes setting them on both paper and fabric a breeze!

You will need a rhinestone heat setting tool. There are many different styles and brands of these tools, but you can get them for around $10 at Michaels or JoAnns. (cheaper if you coupon!)  They are often located with the fabric paints, iron ons, and other t-shirt decorating stuff.

Your tool should come with instructions, but it is really simple!  Let your heat tool warm up (the metal rod will be very hot, so be careful!)

Now place your Metallic Inspirations or Jeweled Inspirations where you want them and press the top with the heat tool... It doesn't take long for the glue to be activated, and once cool, it is set!

Easy!

I hope you are as excited as I am for these!

Bright Pink Flowers in a Basket

Hi everyone! It's Holly posting today, and I'm sharing this fun basket of bright pink flowers with you today. This fits into this week's challenge to use bright and fun colors, doesn't it? :-)

I colored the basket and flowers with Copic markers, and then went over the basket with the Tan paint from Creative Inspirations Paint. You can see the awesome shimmer in this picture:

I used the matching border stamp on the pale yellow polka dotted paper, and I stamped it again on some white cardstock. I colored the flowers with some pink Copic markers, and then cut them out and paper pieced them onto the pale yellow polka dotted paper. I filled in the centers of all the flowers with some white Liquid Pearls for a little texture.

CI Paint: Tan
Stamps: Great Impressions
Ink: Rich Cocoa Memento
CS: white, brown, yellow polka dot dp
Other: Copic markers, Liquid Pearls, Prima flowers, Labels 8 die, EK Success edge punch
TJ Technique: Paper Piecing

A Little Bit of Fun

Hey everybody. This week's Inspired By is all about Bright Colours. I don't know about you, but I think bright colours are FUN, so that's the theme of this little ATC I made. I already had a little piece with a yellow background that I'd painted some time ago, just as a base, waiting for a future project. So I took a mask and painted some gorgeous Aqua Marine over the top. Then I randomly stamped a cute flower in Tickled Pink, so it really sparkles!
Hope everyone has a fabulous day!

Fun Fold Paper Bag Album

Last week's Inspired By was all about fun fold cards. I don't have a card, but I do have a lunch bag photo album. This week's challenge is all about bright colours so my brightly colored lunch bag album fits in perfectly.

All of my embellishments were painted with Creative Inspirations paint. I used Pixie Dust on the corner circles, and Bright Yellow on the center of my flower. (By the way, this photo was taken 23 years ago. My babies are now out of the house)

Here you can see a close up of my embellisments.

Thank you for stopping by.

grab your color

Welcome back everyone!

If you remember last week... we ended up with a fabulous image that was slightly devoid of color.. Well, today we are here to fix that. =)

My choice of tools.... well, lots of them!

Did you know that any water based pigment can be used with Creative Inspirations paint for fabulous shimmer in multiple mediums?

Let's start with the obvious... Creative Inspirations Paint...
With 59 beautiful colors, you can add a lot of color by simply painting with them.

Now, for the rest of the mediums, we are going to need to water to blend them... However, we are going for shimmer, so instead of using plain water, we are going to make a special water.

We are going to be using Fairy Dust because it is the clear CI paint that will just add a pop of shimmer.

Put some Fairy Dust CI paint in a small container.

Now add some water.  We need a watered down mixture to use with the other mediums.

Now you can use your Fairy Dust water to paint with regular watercolors...

 Water based markers...

 Watercolor pencils...

 Watercolor crayons...

Even water based inks like Tim Holtz Distress inks...

all of these will leave you with fabulous options for painting and the beautiful glimmer of the Creative Inspirations paint...

So what are your favorite mediums to mix with Creative Inspirations Paint?

Ticket to Magic

Have you ever made an explosion box?  These are so fun to make!  They take a bit of time but they are so worth it.  (I'm going to apologize in advance for how long this post is).

This box has a disney theme and since disney is all about glamour and sparkle, what better medium to work with than CI Paint, with all its shimmer and shine!

For the top, I made some flowers and painted them with CI Paints 'Sunshine', 'Blush', 'AquaMarine', and 'Amethyst'.  The butterflies were stamped and painted with the same paints.  I wanted pastel colors so I mixed my main color with 'Blue Ice' and glazing medium.

I made some glimmer mist with CI Paint 'Gold' and 'Blue Ice',rubbing alcohol and water and then spritzed the entire box.  I think this box is going to glow in the dark, LOL!

And then you take off the lid and TA-DA!

Did I mention how fun these are?  Sometimes I think I'm still a kid!

There are pockets that hold tags for photos and journaling.  They have buttons sewn on for pull tabs.  The center has a castle and butterflies that are attached to acrylic strips which lets them flutter when the box is opened.  More handmade flowers and glimmer mist.  Each panel has a tri-fold card which closes by being tucked under the ladies skirts.

.
Hope you give this box a try and that you have as much fun as I did.
 Hugs, Sarah

Time for Cake!

Hello and a happy Wednesday to you!!! I hope your week has been off to a wonderful start:) Our youngest son graduated from high school Friday and the festivities came to a close on Monday...so today is the day to take some time to chill and maybe get in some crafty time:) Okay...about today's card...I absolutely ADORE this image:) Don't I remember these days...my sons' have left many fingerprints in the frosting of many cakes and cupcakes:) Of course, they never owned up to it...I suppose that's the joy of having a sibling...someone else to point a finger at and/or a partner in crime;) You would think...now that they're older (18 and 23)...the infamous fingerprints in the frosting would cease...NOPE...uh-uh...not a chance...and still passing the buck...and now Dad's in on it;) Come to think of it...he's probably been in on it all along;) Sorry...I digress.

This scrumptious image is called "Sweet Mischief".  Isn't she a cutie? I love how she is on a stool and is still having to stand on her tippy-toes:) Too stinkin' CUTE!!!! She is colored with Prismacolor markers, and ALL the shimmery sparkle is from Fairy Dust Creative Inspirations Paint. I also added some Diamond Glaze to the counter-top, and the frosting was made with dimensional paints. I love that it looks like real, chocolate frosting:)Yummmmmmm!

Okay...I have babbled enough! Thank you for dropping by!!! I hope you have a wonderfully blessed Wednesday!!!

Hugs!!
Carolyn
