charming shells...

Hello my fabulous friends!

For those of you who visit my personal blog, this is not new, but I wanted to share it here for all of my CI fans who want to hold on to every last bit of summer they can!

While we were at the beach, I made sure to pick up some teeny tiny shells for the "just in case", and this just happened to fit the bill! A custom charm to remember a fun filled day!

I started out with one of Tim Holtz charms.

I die cut a circle out of white cardstock as my base and used Glossy Accents to glue it to the inside of the charm. I then covered that with some more GA and sprinkled on some beach sand.

After that had dried, I glued on my cute little shells with more GA and let that dry.

I then covered it with Creative Inspirations Resinesense, and put it under my UV light for 30 minutes to cure.

Since the one shell was so tall, I ended up doing a second layer of Resinesense. When covering a charm with resin, it is better to build layers than to do  one thick layer.

Normally when you work with resins, bubbles are considered a bad thing... however, with this particular piece, I thought the bubbles added to it, so I didn't discourage them. I think it adds character :)

Enjoy!

Chipboard & Mixed Media Canvas

                                          Happy Thursday CIP Fans!
Michelle here with a extra blog post for today!
For the background of the canvas I used blue distress ink,
Creative Inspirations Paint for the drip I used Turquoise, and splattered dark blue paint in Sapphire!
Colors are below!
For the inking using a stamp, I used Faber-Castell big brush pen in black and Pitt artist pen for the center of the stamp.
For the Love chipboard word this is by A2Z and I used CI paint in Sunshine.

To add the stencilet by A2Z I used a Gloss heavy gel medium to the canvas.
Once it was dry I added a little distress ink lightly, randomly just to add a touch of color!
For the inking using a stamp, I used Faber-Castell big brush pen in black and Pitt artist pen for the center of the stamp.
The wooden buttons are by American Crafts.

Here are the amazing CIP colors I used!

Thank you for visiting the CIP blog today!

Painted Glass Sun Catcher

Hi CIP fans! Dana here today sharing a quick and fun project for the "Anything Goes" challenge theme this week. Summer is almost over and I'm hanging on to the sunny days for as long as I can! To help capture the rays and bring them into my home, I altered this sun catcher. The Creative Inspirations Paint that I used with one of my favorite floral stamp sets really captures the light. This small piece has helped to brighten my space in a big way!

I used a black permanent ink to stamp the Black Eyed Susan design onto a piece of glass. My piece of glass was not a flat surface, so I did not use a stamping block.

I then painted the stamped image with Creative Inspirations Paint in Chocolate, Copper, Emerald, Green Olive, Ivory, Mango, Onyx and Sunshine.

I twisted a piece of wire around the glass to make a hanger for my sun catcher and added beads to finish.

Thanks for stopping by today! I hope I have inspired you to use your paints on something other than paper.

A Stamped Back to School Card!

                                               Greetings CIP Fans!

School started back last week for us and so I though I would create
a fun Back to School card!
I was planning on creating a project with Resinesence but it was raining and my UV lamp
I wasn't sure if the mold I had could be used in it. Now that is something I need to experience with.
Since I don't have any stamps with school theme except for stars that is what I used!
I used 2 sizes of stars on the card. The larger one I used on the canvas trim and the smaller on on the star die cut. For the star I used the CI paint color Tanzanite. I also added Rustic Red on the roof, door and wood chevron stripe and Canary on the bell, small stars on the border strip, and chevron stripe.

Here's a close up of the shimmer!

Here's the CI paint colors I used!

Our new challenge inspired by anything goes just started! You have 2 weeks to join in!
If you join in on the challenge your name will be added to a drawing to win some CI paints!

Soar with CI Paints

It has been a bit since I have played in my studio. The last few projects I have made have all been made while away from my home. It was nice to actually play in my own studio and let my creativity soar. While putting away the remaining supplies from my art supply bag I had a perfect idea for my post today using Creative Inspirations Paints.

I wanted to incorporate my Gelli Plate and the CI Paints on a canvas. This was the first time I used my Gelli Plate and a canvas. I was a bit unsure if it would work, especially since I only have gallery wrapped canvases in my home. So they are deeper which I thought would make it tough getting the design from the Gelli Plate onto the canvas. However, it was MUCH easier than I thought.

Here is the final product:

I used my Gelli Plate with Rose Quartz, Turquoise, Green Olive and Lavender paints to make the background. The stencil I used is one of my favorites by Crafters Workshop. It is nothing but swirls, which are so fun to me.

The paints mixed together for a kind of tie dye effect, but you can still see the individual colors.

Close up of the paints behind the words...

A little side view...

And because I used the Gelli Plate with the paints, I had extra paint on my plate and stencil... so I used some heavyweight white cardstock to remove the remaining CI Paint from them.

Here is one of the images I got...

I'm thinking this will make a great background for a card... or tag. Or heck, even a layout!

As always, the paints I used today from CI Paints:

sticky stamps...

Hello my wonderful friends!

I'm so glad you chose to "stick" with me today.

ok... so I really couldn't resist that one. :)

Today has been one of those days where things REALLY don't go as planned. The package I was expecting in order to finish a project (for today's deadline) didn't show up... A tutorial I was putting together for something else ended up looking AWEFUL... I put together another tutorial, and miss the deadline anyway.... I'm sure you get the idea.

This tutorial didn't really go as planned either. Well, I guess you could say I didn't HAVE any plans for it. I had planned to post one of the other tutorials I have in my "waiting to post" file since I knew today would be hectic.

However, while waiting for the mail (that was supposed to come bearing my package) I had a little free time to play with an idea that had popped into my head.

It ended up working, and since I was so excited SOMETHING to work out today, I decided to use this tutorial so my day was not totally wasted. LOL!

It is actually based on a technique posted over on Splitcoaststampers using masking tape as a stamp... However, I did what I like to do with SO many techniques... I put my own twist on it.

Step 1: tear off various sizes of masking tape.  How many and what lengths is up to you and your project.

Step 2: ink up the sticky side of the tape by pressing it onto an ink pad. I have found that a light touch is best. You don't need a lot of ink.

Step 3: "ink" up a texture stamp with Creative Inspirations Paint. I do this by pouncing on a little CI paint using a makeup wedge. (avoid text. I say this only because when you stamp it from the tape it will be in reverse... kinda loses the awesomeness of a sentiment if you need to use a mirror to read it...)

Step 4: stamp the sparkly texture onto the sticky inky side of the tape.

Step 5: Working quickly, flip the tape over and press it onto your project. Go ahead and press it down.

Step 6: Carefully peel off the tape to reveal your imperfectly awesome design!

And, because of the extra little step in there using the CI paint... our masking tape prints have shimmery designs!

Pretty sure I'm liking this one!

How super simple!!!

Enjoy!

PS: As with any paint, don't forget to wash your stamp as soon as you can, and wash it well! Some warm water and a soft bristle toothbrush for the little nooks and crannies will take the paint right off.

Supplies Used:
Paper: DCWV, cardstock
Ink: Distress Ink, Colorbox Pigment
Stamps: Unity "Love In Return", My Mind's Eye "Tickled Pink"
Creative Inspirations Paint: Chocolate
Other: rhinestones

Grungy Tag for a Guy

Hello!

Shea here with Glitter and Bonbons with a tag that I made for my son's birthday gift a few days ago (I've already profiled his gift card holder in a previous post).

My gift tags have always been too small in the past, so I decided to cut one on my Silhouette Cameo so I could adjust the size to my specifications.  More real estate for more stuff.

I first sponged the base with three colors of distress inks then sponged over a stencil with more inks.  Then I sponged around the edges of each stencil opening with first Burn Sienna and then Autumn Wheat which gave the stencil some great shimmer!

I stamped the next layer then started adding the embellishments.  Copper ball chain, chipboard brads, some metal photo corners and a fun floral/burlap embellishment all came together to make a fun tag fit for a guy.

The burlap was a little too light, so I dry brushed some Burnt Sienna on it using my finger and used the scraps under the leather-look "flower."  I made the flower by misting and scrunching some circles of cardstock and layering them with a brad in the center.  Then I painted them with Burnt Clay and Autumn Wheat.  The flower winds up looking like leather every time.

The final touch was the leather cord at the top.

Thank you for joining me, and don't forget to play along in our latest challenge, Inspired By: Back to School.

Happy crafting!

Altered Bird with some shimmer!

                                                Happy Friday CIP Fans!
I'm on the blog for an extra post for today!
I altered this chipboard bird by Jenni Bowlin. The leaves I punched and then added some
Sage CI Paint for some extra shimmer! For the flower I used Fuchsia and I just love how much vibrant this color has!
I wanted to use Jeweled inspiration rhinestone for the flower center but I could not find them since we are still unpacking. The good news I found them tonight! I used Resplendence glitter in Angel Dust!
I used Onyx fort he eye.
Love all the shimmer on this flower!

A close up of all the shimmer!

The amazing colors of the CIP paints I used!
