Best Witches!

Happy Halloween, crafty friends!  Julie here from Muddy Paws & Inky Fingers. I'm picking up an extra post today. It is pure pleasure to have an opportunity to work with these paints a little more.  And what day could be more fun to post than Halloween?
Those of you who frequent my blog and know my style know that I often make 2 similar cards using the same card base.  That's what I did today.  I cut one 8 1/2x11 piece of gray cardstock in half, made two card bases out of it, and built from there.  So, I have two similar in design, yet quite different in appearance cards to share.
Here's the first one:

I stamped my witch hat image, then painted it with the following Creative Inspirations Paints: Pumpkin, Orange, Light Purple, Royal Purple, Evergreen, and Green Olive.  I love how well the paints blend together!
In real life, the witch's hat is incredibly shimmery! I tried to get a photograph of the shimmer.  Photos just don't do these paints justice, but here's my attempt at it:

Can you see the shimmer on that hat? It's so pretty it spooks me!
Now, on to the second, similar card...

I used the same stamp for my image, the same colors of Creative Inspirations Paint (Pumpkin, Orange, Light Purple, Royal Purple, Evergreen, Green Olive), but mixed it up some, changing the look of the witch's hat.  Both hats are fussy cut, then attached with foam tape for a little 3D effect.
And, here's another view of the second card, again trying to photograph the incredible shimmer of Creative Inspirations Paint.

I love, love, love that shimmer!
Which card is your favorite?  Or is that, witch card?
Here are all the paints I used. So pretty.

Thanks for visiting today. For more details about these cards, and to see what other spooky projects I've been working on, please visit my blog, Muddy Paws & Inky Fingers.  Have a safe, candy filled Halloween!

Love You Layout

Good morning one and all! Julianne here today to share a technique-filled layout with you. This entire layout was one big experiment, as I have never played with Creative Inspiration Paints before. Being new to the team, I did not know what to expect. So I just played. It was that simple.

I decided to start with embossing powder. I'm an embossing powder addict - I love the way it resists against paints and mists. I used the Crafter's Workshop 12x12 dots stencil, added some embossing ink, sprinkled it with the Platinum embossing powder, and blasted it with a heat gun. I then sprayed a couple of different mists to add a little colour.

I have used the Gold Crystal Sparkle embossing powder for my title.
I think it may be my new favourite colour, lol! I just adore the beautiful sparkle and shimmer that shows through once it has been heated.

I decided to try the paints on metal embellishments, and was pleasantly surprised. The paints give a gorgeous colour and pearl shimmer to the metal. The flowers in this image were originally white, silver, and gold metals.

I have added drops of paint to my layout for added texture and detail, and to help tie the layout together. I have also used the Sea Foam paint directly on the chipboard corner frames (Imaginarium Designs). I used two light coats of paint, and once it was dry, I coated it with Glossy Accents for even more shine.

Here are the colours I used on my layout:

And if you look closely, you'll see I have finished of my layout with Jewelled Inspirations in all 3 sizes. No matter how hard I try, I just cannot create a layout without adding a little bling!
And since I enjoyed this experiment so much, I think I'll go and make another one.
Now, which colours should I choose???

Thanks for joining me today. Hope you get creative too!

Cheers, xxx

Stuck Together

Good Morning! It's Emily again, as promised with the layout I made to match the tag from the 19th using Creative Inspirations Paints.

I made this layout for a class, and wanted to show that with minimal patterned papers, plain cardstock and a few CI Paints, you can create a fun and colorful background. It doesn't cost much to make, and you have a lot of fun in the process!

The base is white cardstock with tissue paper that I dabbed Distress Ink over for color and then used Blush paint to highlight in the creases and raised areas. Sky Blue and a stencil were used to make the dots and to top it off used a paint brush to splatter Buttercup over it all.

Here is a close up of it all together... You can really see the shimmer in the blue dots!

The paints I used today:

I hope you have enjoyed my projects and gotten some inspiration out of it. Be sure to share with us what you have done with your CI Paints!

Have a great day!

homemade made easy...

Hello my wonderful friends!

WHO STOLE THE TOILET PAPER????

pssst!  check the craft room!

What's it doing there?

How about the EASIEST way to make homemade paper!

Lay a sheet of toilet paper inside an embossing folder and lightly spritz with water

Lay another sheet of toilet paper on top of the first and spritz that one with water.

Continue stacking and spritzing until you have 6-8 layers, and finish up with a final spritz ... (you just need to spritz- you want the paper damp, not dripping.)

Close your embossing folder up, and run it through your embossing machine like usual...

Carefully open the folder up and peel out the paper. Allow to air dry, or dry it with a heat tool.

Once it's dry....

Use your highlighting pad to ink the embossed areas with Distress Ink

(What? You don't know what a highlighting pad is???? Check out my tutorial HERE!)

Spritz water on it to let the Distress Ink wick out a bit

Now, use your highlighter again to hit the embossed with some Creative Inspirations Paint for the perfect shimmer!

And there you have a fabulous custom shimmery paper that has that unique feel of hand made paper... it does some fun things with inks and sprays and such! Play around with it!

Enjoy!

Do You Believe?

Hi Everyone and Happy Friday!!!!

Do you Believe? I sure hope you do, and I hope you never give up on your wishes or dreams.

I love wish fairies, I have never looked at them as weeds. There's just something about being able to take something from nature, and send it off in the wind full of wishes. To me they are magical and I wanted to do a journal page that was just as magical.

The CI Paints brought such a shimmer and added element of magic to this page and I just love how it turned out.

I did the background on and 8-1/2x11 piece of heavy card stock using Aquamarine, Sky Blue, Turquoise, Rose Quartz, Blush and Buttercup. I just kept layering until I achieved what I was after.

I love the way the colors blend...

Next I designed the wish fairies. I actually used chipboard shapes and just arranged them on a piece of heavy card stock then traced around them and cut it out as one piece with an exacto knife.

The greens of the stems were done with Emerald and Green Olive. I used fairy dust as a first layer on the wish fairies...I then glued the piece down to the back ground. Then I mixed Blue Ice with my Liquitex Coarse Texture Gel and applied it using a stencil and palette knife...after that dried I went over the fairies with another layer of the Blue Ice...glued a crystal in the middle of each and it was done.

Here are the colors I used...

Have a MaGiCaL weekend!!!

Thankful for You!

I love the colors of Autumn with leaves and chrysanthemums in reds, yellows, greens and oranges. Today I have created a fall floral card that would be a perfect hostess gift at Thanksgiving or for any occasion where you are feeling most thankful.

I love to make flowers and CI paints have amazing color and shimmer to bring the petals to life. For my mum, I started by cutting 15 of the Blooms Two die from Spellbinders® with ivory paper. I painted the back side of each flower with Burgundy, then turned it over and painted the front with Burnt Clay.

With a dry embossing tool and foam mat, I shaped the petals into a cup and then touched the tips with Buttercup paint. I glued one flower on top of the other, and continued in that manner until I got the fullness I wanted for my larger mum. With leftover flowers, I created two smaller mums.

As a background for my mum, I cut various leaves from the Fall Foliage die set out of olive green cardstock, and painted them with Evergreen. I added a touch of Buttercup and Burnt Clay to the edges to show the changing of the leaves.

Have a blessed and creative day! ~ Darsie
